Healthy Habits Being Your Own BOSS!

Let’s talk about forming new habits. Being your OWN Boss are you looking after yourself? Are you taking time out for yourself? Are you eating healthy and getting enough fresh air?

We all have times in our lives where we intentionally want to change our behaviour for the better and create new habits for ourselves. This could be getting in the habit of eating healthier and drinking more water Or it could be moving more and taking the dog for a daily walk. Or it could be work related, or spiritual, or…

There are so many areas in our lives that could be improved and made easier if we created new habits. Getting into the habit of doing something is often easier said than done. We seem to acquire bad habits without any effort, but getting into a “good” habit can be a little more challenging.

Creating new habits will build your confidence.

Let’s break it down into a three step process that makes it easy to follow until we’ve internalised the new behaviour and made it a true habit – something we do automatically without having to think about…

Decide What You Want To Do

The first step is to decide what you want that new habit to be. Be as specific as possible. Don’t just tell yourself you want to exercise more. Instead say something like “I will go for a 30 minute walk every single day, or I will meditate this afternoon or I will do this task tonight or tomorrow. The habit needs to be something you need or want to change…

Deciding what your new habit will be and committing to when and how you’re going to do it, is half the battle.

Remind Yourself To Get It Done

The next few days should be smooth sailing. You are motivated and excited to get this done. Sticking to your new habit isn’t an issue. However, after a week you are noticing that it’s easy to slip back into the old habits. Does this happen to you? I bet it does, it has happen to me it is easy to slip back into the old habits why because its comfortable right? Its like wearing new shoes it feels funny for a while it hurts a little then you stop you go back to wearing your old shoes because it’s comfortable.

This is the same with getting some fresh air you you don’t want to go because it’s either too hot, too cold, it’s raining, it’s too windy. So you stay inside because it’s comfortable.

Make It Part Of Your Routine Until It Becomes A Habit

Daily reminders, this is a MUST do and make it part of your daily life, this is important having a little reminder helps you to enjoy this new habit. There are many ways you can remind yourself. The best option to do is organise this new habit for the month for example you can book a reminder on your phone, you can book it in your calendar, you can write it on a sticky note put it where you can see it, you can have a friend to remind you or a coach to remind you. This is a great habit to get into the reminders it helps keep you on track with your new habits.
