Be Thankful in our life

Creating a new habit of taking the time to be thankful every day in your life makes you feel appreciative for the things you have.

It makes you feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improves your health, helps you deal with difficulty and builds strong relationships.

Why I think being thankful is important?

I think it is an expression of appreciation and being thankful can reduce stress, depression, anxiety and increases energy and happiness.

I believe that every morning when we wake up we need to start the day by saying ‘thank you’

How often do you say thank you in your life?

We need to say ‘thank you’ more often in our life. It’s not only about saying thank you to another person, it is about being thankful for what you have in your life, around you and your mind and body.

Instead of being thankful, so many people are focusing more on the negative, especially things they wished they had.

We all want to live in a better place, a better environment.

Focusing on saying thank you is a gratitude that reminds our heart, mind, and soul of the blessings that surround us. Our narrow focus on what is wrong widens to reveal a world full of love, light, and hope.

We can shift our moods and lives from black and white to full colour again.

However, sometimes practicing saying thank you often can start to feel a bit stale after a while. Or, we get busy and let it drop away without realizing what we are doing.

We forget that focusing on what we are thankful for was programming our brain, creating new positive neural pathways that lead to happiness and a sense of peace. We forget that thankfulness is the path toward what we really want.

So, when you start to hear a pattern of negative thoughts running through your mind or notice that your focus is on what is going wrong — return your thoughts to gratitude and say thank you.

When you feel disconnected from yourself return to gratitude and say thank you.

And, any time you want to improve your world view and recognize the truth of what is, then return to gratitude and say thank you.

I love things because it is so true, we are in a place where we are very fortunate to have what we DO have.

There are people in our world who are not as fortunate as you and would love to have what you have, yet they still say thank you because they are given a new day to breathe and to live.

If you feel you’re not saying thank you enough why not make it a new habit for each day by saying thank you.

Here are my favourite ways of saying thank you. You can also add your favourites to the list.


Repeat after me:

    • Thank you for giving me this day to enjoy
    • Thank you for having a bed to sleep in
    • Thank you for having a nice home to love and to add wonderful things to it.
    • Thank you for a nice hot cup of tea in the mornings
    • Thank you for the clothes in my wardrobe
    • Thank you for water for my body and shower
    • Thank you for sunshine on my skin for vitamin D
    • Thank you for the rain to water my garden
    • Thank you for transport to get me around
    • Thank you for the books I can read
    • Thank you for learning new skills
    • Thank you for money in my purse
    • Thank you for a family to love
    • Thank you for a partner to love
    • Thank you for accepting myself
    • Thank you for the beach to walk on the sand
    • Thank you for the ocean of water to swim in
    • Thank you for walks to give strength in my legs
    • Thank you for hands to work on things I love to do
    • Thank you for my nose to smell wonderful things
    • Thank you for my ears and music to listen to
    • Thank you for my mind
    • Thank you for my heart beating each day so I can enjoy this day that is given to me
    • Thank you for friends I can count on and have fun with

There is so much to be thankful for in your life.
It is a very powerful thing to say thank you
It is time we be more thankful in our life. Especially during the crises our world is experiencing.

In the journey of your life learn that the more thankful you are, the more you have to be thankful for.

    In 2017, I faced a life threatening diagnosis. Acute Myeloid Leukemia when I was only 17. It’s ironic in a way to say that it was that diagnosis that made me be thankful for every single part of life. Today, I appreciate every little thing, even the bad. Because the time we have is so limited, that there is no time to waste on being angry or unappreciative when there is so much beauty around us to be thankful for.
