The Fear Trap

Every one of us is fearful of something but how do we deal with those fears?

There are many types of fears that we feel or experience

So, what is FEAR?

FEAR – False Evidence Appearing Real

OR

FEAR – Forget Everything and Run or Face Everything and RISE.

There are many different levels of fears and just to name a few:

 – rejection

 – success

 – failure

 – helpless

 – being valuable and disapprove

 – not doing well in subjects

– main stream media (TV News)

The above are just a few of the fears we all feel daily.

Then there is fear of words, fear of physical abuse, fear of verbal abuse, fear of heights, fear of doing something new, fear of asking, anxiety fear and then there is that fear of excitement!

How does it affect us in our bodies when we become afraid and fearful?

Fear is a powerful thing it can have a direct and noticeable affect on your body, when you are watching a scary event – real or fake. A person’s fight or flight response can take over which results in myriad of changes as the adrenal glands react to fear by going into over drive flooding the body with adrenaline.

Also,

Fear is a negative thought that is provoked when an incoming threat is perceived by the body. The response is different for each person and every situation however it originates in the mind and the effects show on the body.

If you are scared of heights, your heart starts to be beat really fast then you experience unexplained sweating, clenching your fist or your toes without realizing you are doing it. Your mind is sensing stimulation or even danger.

For example you’re standing on the edge of the cliff looking at the beautiful view; your body begins to feel scared, you might even shake, your tummy might turn upside down, all different thoughts are running through your head so fast!

However, another fear is when someone is standing in front of you yelling or screaming at you.

You begin to feel so fearful because you don’t know what is going to happen next. Your heart is beating so fast, you may even be feeling a bit shaky.

It is amazing what our body tells us when we are afraid of something; it can be a good thing and it can be a bad thing…

I had a LOT of fears and I held those fears inside me for a long time. There was a time I was scared to to go work, scared to be around people. Even watching the tv news had scared me.

I couldn’t let go of these fears I felt. I had to encourage myself to overcome the negative thoughts about these fears and over come them all.

I knew deep down once I over come these fears I will feel better. Even to think that was making me feel fearful. Once I learned to over come all of my fears I realised it wasn’t so bad after all I also realised how much I was missing out on the good things and great opportunities in life.

I had to learn not to be afraid of change
I had to learn to embrace it

I had to learn to use it to flourish…

I had to learn to feel the ‘change’ because it gave me new opportunities

Years ago I was fearful of the main stream media the tv news. I grew up where my parents had the news on. We had to sit and be quiet while they watch the news. When I left home I still kept on watching the news it was becoming a habit.

One day I became really fearful of the tv news something bad had happen it was upsetting me, it affected me, it made me feel fearful. Then I found out it wasn’t true and it didn’t happen. I realised that I allowed this fear to affect me.

It was stopping me from doing things in life.

This put me off on the tv news. The more I thought about it, I see there is always negativity on the tv news. I felt there was nothing happy and positive about life in general. I felt it wasn’t helping me achieve something in life.

So I switched it OFF!

It was the best thing I ever did and this was 20 years ago! The fear left me I was focusing more on the good things. And years later I am seeing the main stream media has NOT changed it is a LOT worse than it was 20 years ago!

If you stop watching the tv news your life will become better you won’t have any fear at all. Besides that ask questions. Ask yourself is it helping you to achieve something in life, will I get somewhere in my life by watching the tv news.

If your answer is no it won’t help you achieve anything in life then switch it off. The more you switch it off the less fearful you’ll feel and your out look on life will change.

We all have to face our fears and over come them. If you’re not facing your fears you will never be able to over come anything in life.

Time is now to over come our fears, work through them. It gets easier once you overcome your first fear.

Courage might require knowing what to fear and what not to fear, it means knowing which things are good and bad. Which means loving the right things and valuing and cherishing the right things.

What is it that makes you fearful?

Remember, I believe in you

Much love
